Readying for Reading in 2007

December 27th, 2006 · No Comments

Well Christmas was great, by-passing the "Jesus is the reason for the season" paragraph, I got some really great gifts: around 10 books off my Amazon Wishlist, and some other brilliant stuff like a real hammock and Maroon 5 DVD.

Thanks to everyone who stoked my reading list up for the start of the year, so reading goes as follows

Christ Plays in Ten Thousand Places: Eugene Peterson - I have wanted to read Eugune Peterson for a while now but never got round to it. I have read a about 25 pages into this and LOVE it already.

The Great Omission: Dallas Willard - Looks like a great book, and had some great reviews, I had been talking to Rachel’s Mum Susan about it a few weeks ago and she bought me the hardback edition for Christmas, I cant wait to read this.

Adventures in missing the point: Brian McLaren and Tony Campolo - Again a book I am truly excited to read, by two great authors.

I got quite a few others but these have made to Top 3 to read right now….eg If I could be that robot in Short circuit who read book in 3 seconds Id have finished them already.

Another thing I have been thinking about as I make my way through "Christ Plays" is that these books realy tackle important things that I really want to digest and process. Much like spiritual experiences in worship or prayer I want to become more like Jesus in reading through these books.

What do you think are the best methods of reading, or styles of writing help you really digest and incorporate books, do you summarise at the end of a chapter? Underline as your going through?
