Top Tips for Mobile Phone Contracts Part Four

April 6th, 2007 · 1 Comment

I havent put any more of these top tips up for a while so here is part four, check out the bottom of this post for links back to the last 3 installments!

  • Theres alway a little more sweetener - Again, the company wants YOU to deal with THEM and whether its retention (starting another contract with the same provider after yours is over) or starting a completely fresh contract, they have an alotted amount of funds to sweeten the deal, they wont offer these to the unsuspecting customer to keep their profit margins higher BUT if after they have described the deal you want it to be a bit cheaper, or a better deal, just something like "can you make it a bit better". Once that part is over and you’ve decided on the phone and the minuites dont give in, ask if they can throw in something like a bluetooth headset or a Memory card for the phone, Salespeople will often reply "Oh I would but were all out of stock right noe" etc etc, then you can reply but saying "Thats fine Ill just leave my address" or "I can come in and pick it up when you get them back in", I did that the last time I got my phone and managed to get a free 1GB Memory card. Remember though, you will probably have to call and remind them about it, and remember to take the agents name as that is your bargaining chip. What happened to me, is they promised to send it, a couple of week later it hadnt arrived, so I called, then still no card, so I turned up un awares to the shop and they gave me the memory card. Now it shouldnt have to be that hard but remember sales-people are sales motivated, once you’ve signed the line they wont be quick to offer any after sales service.
