As you’ll see from my scrobbling iTunes track on last.fm I have been devouring Delta Spirit’s album Ode to Sunshine. I’ve mentioned the guys a few times on the blog before, and they are Great! The album has been entirely done by themselves, no label or distribution at all and stating they didn’t trust anyone with it and I think the album shows they were right!

On the first few listens the tracks that stood out were "Trashcan" and the choral offering of "People, Turn Around" but in later listenings the tracks that I have fallen head over heals for have been "Strange Vine" and "Parade".

They have toured and written their socks off, and I think Ode to Sunhine is a tribute to the fact that it was worth it!

I don’t know if it’s an unfair judgement to make to say that Ode to Sunshine shows influence from the Cold War Kids as it is much more percussive than the earlier EP, but then again maybe the tamborines were always lurking around?

So the message is, check out Delta Spirit:

PS. As a sign that Delta Spirit have "made it" they even have some tabs online!
