My Best Albums of 2007

January 4th, 2008 · No Comments

Its snowing ferociously and I spoke to a friend who is off snowboarding in the cairngorms today…lucky (in a napoleanesque way)

Meanwhile I am stuck in work and thanks to a powercut in newfoundland the satellite communication technology we use is down so I had a quick feed read and found that everyone and their mother is picking their best album of 2007, so I thought Id join in.

For me 2007 hasn’t been an especially musical one, I have not looked too hard for new music but the west coast indie influences are certainly making their subtle mark on my tastes. Also I haven’t taken the normal path of picking albums released this year, though some of these were, but ones I have discovered (in the case of Best of U2) or re-discovered (Manic Street Preachers), so in no particular order the top ten are, please feel free to leave your comments, negative or otherwise, and if you blog consider yourself tagged.

Ray Lamontagne - Trouble

Cold War Kids - Robbers and Cowards

Delta Spirit - Ode to Sunshine

U2 - The Best of 1980-1990

Kings of Leon - Because of the Times

Chris Thile - Not all who wander are lost

Radiohead - In Rainbows

Dave Crowder - A Collision

Sufjan Stevens - Avalanche

Manic Street Preachers - Gold Against the Soul
