I have played the electric guitar in worship for just over 2 years, and although now Im involved in a Vineyard Church plant where worship is mostly in smaller house group kind of settings which see’s worship music mostly confined to an acoustic guitar. I still am enthused about electric guitar gear and its uses within contemporary worship.
Ive never quite known which format to include my guitar enthusiasm on this blog, but have kept an eye on others who blog their guitar interest well such as Worship Guitar Guy which, even though he’s blogging less regularly at the moment, has a brilliant archive of posts for worship guitar players which step out of the usual cold guitar technique format.
For now I’ve decided to start doing some posts now and again on guitar gear, this will be primarily in the for of detailing guitar ‘set-ups’, for example when I catch a photo of gear used by a worship band, either live or in an album I’ll try and identify the gear.
I have been enthused with this ‘gear tagging’ since I read about people obsessing over the exact order of the ‘Edge’s’ guitar setup, and it made me realise the importance of tone, and why you’d want to replicate it, so the Next Post in the series will be on the sources of tone in electric guitar.

I’ve gotten pretty good at Guitar Hero. Just kidding, I’m horrible at it. What has happened, however, is that many of our teens have started to play guitar because the first got the taste of it on the video game.

Guitar Hero! The funny thing is I dont know one guitarist who can do it!…and one of my friend’s brothers is a pro at it and seemingly doesn’t have a musical bone in his body!?
Interesting how it is encouraging a new generation of guitarists though.
Thanks for the compliment on the re-design.
