Monday Morning Kick-off

January 14th, 2008 · No Comments

1) This morning listening to Radio 4 heard some interesting stuff on the current funding issues that are coming up in parliament and as Nick Robinson pointed out on the program, the whole reason the system is set up for declaring funds that have been donated is so that the public can make judgements on whether favours are being done in return for cash.

The "not quite convincing" answers from the MP’s in the limelight that they forgot, didn;t notice or where unsure unfortunately reveals that the MP’s involved have commitment to transparency and public accountability within their funding on paper but not in reality. Poor show gents. Nick Robinson has more here

2)I have been uploading my iTunes library to anywhere.fm for about 3 solid days and am only 800-odd tracks out of 3000 done! I did use it though whilst cooking in the kitchen on my iBook, good streaming time, it didnt stop to buffer once! I also am impressed by anywhere.fm being totally free and offering UNLIMITED upload space.

3) Jim Martin is asking how people describe their churches positively, join in if you can.

4) Finally there is a bargain in Aberdeen to be had, it’s just I don’t have ANY money so thought I would share it in the hope that there may be some local guitarists who have been hanging around after my couple of posts last week. A vintage 1976 point to point Fender twin Reverb for £500, look brand new and has foot switch! I’d be there in a flash.

5) MacWorld are going to have the Steve Jobs keynote where everyone gets super excited and then is disappointed, those who watch as close as I used to before I realised I can never afford ‘brand-new’ apple technology are saying a possible release for a super mobile powerbook with only flash hard drives and external optical. BBC once again has the info

6) Those who fly to Orkney and Shetland will be interested in the fact Flybe, UK low cost carrier has partnered with small player Loganair in the new franchise for the routes from BA.

7) In a landmark court case that must be worth billions for bank consumers across the UK (incl. ME) a lank mark trial will start today to judge whether bank charges are unfair, Ill clear it up for you, they are.
