Lifehack for Easy-Reading of Endnotes

March 27th, 2008 · 2 Comments

Ive been reading the superb Tom Wright book "Surprised by Hope" and am really enjoying it.

Moving from reading mostly academic theology to something more in the popular realm (though of course NT Wright has made much more scholastic theological treatments elsewhere) has been a nice break, though the one thing that is especially annoying is the books uses endnotes insetad of footnotes!

So everytime there is a little super-script 2 somewhere I just cant ignore it, I have to turn to it and see the source or the extra info (I wonder if this is a result of reading Karl Barth!). So to fix this I have started to use Post it Flags, excellent little inventions which are adhesive tabs to the edge of your book. I pop one in the end note section and then pop my thumb the page Im reading a turn to the endnotes without having to search around for it for 30 seconds while you forget what the endnote refers to in the first place.

Another great use for them is as a bookmark, as the adhesive doesn’t leave any marks but keeps it adhesive quality making it quite reusable. This is excellent if, like me, you loose bookmarks and feel like you’ve made a moral trespass by turning the edge of a page!

    hey,
i’ve been reading your blog quite a while, i found it through someone at IHOP-KC’s blog a while back.
i was wondering if you could help me, I am looking into studying some sort of theology related course, probably by distance learning. I am looking between various institutions and can’t decide if I should go for a degree that is more historical and academic to give me a more balanced view of the bible, or if i should study at a pentecostal institution such as mattersey hall, where i’d be learning about theology which I already believe in, I’m wondering if this would just be ignoring other possible valid view points of interpretation of scripture.
so i was wondering, who are you studying for your Masters with,
what would you recommend to look for in a theology course? and has studying theology practically helped you in your prayer life?

sorry those are kinda long winded questions, so if you don’t have time to come back to them its ok :o)
