Electric Guitar Series: The Arcade Fire

April 8th, 2008 · No Comments

I have really enjoyed listening to the Arcade Fire recently, there are reviews and intro’s to Arcade Fire all over the internet so if you don’t know who they are then check some out.

I wrote this post because I kept getting loads of hits from google on my last few Electric Guitar Series posts for "arcade fire effects pedals", this was because the post contained info on effects pedals and in the side bar "Im listening to.." section had arcade fire, anyway it was all very confusing for everyone so I tried to source some info on Arcade Fire’s effects pedal and equipment and got quite a bit more than I bargained for from the guys over at "Us Kids know" an Arcade Fire forum. Special Thanks to Mark, Fiona, Ben and Sworfish trombones for their extensive replies on that forum about this.

So onto the gear…

I believe this is Richard Reed’s pedal board:

Boss TU-2 tuner – This is a standard tuning pedal, built like a tank.

EH POG – This is an Electro Harmonix octave pedal, I hear its meant to create some pretty crazy sounds!

Boss OD-3 or SD-1 – Standard boss Overdrives

Voodoo Lab Pedal Power II – To power multiple pedals without the mess of a strip plug

Boss RV-5 reverb pedal – Boss Reverb Pedal

Boss CS-3 compression sustainer – Compression Pedal

Line6 ECHO PARK – This is a line 6 digital delay pedal whic incorporates much of the bigger DD6 stomp box features as well as a nice dotted 8th preset which sound U2-like.

eBow – An eBow apparently used within the song Intervention

Other pedals mentioned were:

Proco Rat for Win’s bass??
Electro-harmonix big muff?
Sarah has a Boss Rc-20 Loops station
Boss TU-2 chromatic tuner

Any other info from people? Leave it in the comments and Ill add it to this Page.
