I recieved the books from the SCM book sale today, one of which is Jurgen Moltmann’s "Experiences in Theology" which I’m interested to delve into at some point.
Eschatology is very much ‘en vogue’ right now, and I think the rediscovery of these theological truths within the pews should be celebrated in order that it disciplines our reliaties with the christian and biblical reality.
I found a good quote from Moltmann emphasizing the importance of eschatology in his work Theology of Hope:
“Christian eschatology in the language of promise will be then an essential to the unlocking of Christian truth. For the loss of eschatology – not merely as an appendix to dogmatics, but as the medium of theological thinking as such – has always been the condition that makes possible the adaptation of Christianity to its environment, and as a result of this, the self-surrender of faith”
