We are settling in well to our new place which we have moved to, to save money for DTS, affectionately known as the portacottage:
My good friend Sam Rich is writing a blog over the course of his Discipleship Training School course with YWAM based in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Why not pop over there and see if you might find a DTS interesting or encourage him by leaving a comment.
Race: A Theological Account is a book by J. Kameron Carter that has been getting quite a bit of press in some corners of the blogosphere, so I was very interested to read the Christian Century review of it.
Trevin Wax gives some tips to those who want to read lots of books, but can’t afford to buy them.
The Pacifism vs. Just War theological discussion has interested me ever since I began thinking about it a few years ago when reading Stanley Hauerwas, here is an interesting series of posts by D.C. Cramer which details his discussions on pacifism.
There has been some incredible underwater volcanic eruptions near Tonga which are captured amazingly on Boston’s Photoblog the Big Picture.
For reasons that escape me I am absolutely transfixed by the story of piracy off of Somalia, I think it is seeing what feel like two worlds, and even ages meet in the middle. The vast symbols of globalisation and Industry Cargo Ships and the unindustrialized opportunism of the Somalian pirates. The Big Picture have given it some photo coverage here.
I’ve been reading the cool tools blog for a while as they feature some pretty unheard of solutions to things, and I was interested to read about Holiday Home Exchanges and wondered if it might be the perfect choice for a holiday during these economic times:
“house exchanges typically save money four ways:
1. House exchange = no hotel or rental cost;
2. Car exchange (common) = no rental car fees;
3. Access to a full kitchen = less need to rely on restaurants;
4. Cellphone exchange = no hassles with establishing a new phone or expensive overseas roaming charges.” – Home Exchanges
Im hoping to find out more about presentation beta service prezi.com which I have a beta invite to, looks like a great way to revamp the whole powerpoint presentation that we have all gotten so used to.
There is talk that Google may release a GDrive yet! It would essentially be storage space, like your hard drive which existed online, for the moment though Ill struggle with the free version of dropbox.
